Alpha's Friends Inception
A note from Alpha's Friends' President

When Alpha walked into our home that first night, we weren’t prepared to expand our family. In fact, my wife and I were leaving for three weeks the following afternoon. But we were determined to either reunite Alpha with her lost family if she had one or find a safe place for her before we left. In the morning, I took her to the vet to search for a microchip and get her a rabies shot if we couldn't prove she had one. After determining she was homeless, I found a shelter that would take her in and try to get her adopted. The shelter was overwhelmed already, and they were initially reluctant to take her in. I promised them that I would adopt her if she was still there in three weeks and also paid the fee for her adoption if someone was interested. After a few days, my wife and I both admitted that we were worried she wouldn’t be there when we got back. We both had fallen for her. Fortunately for us, she was still there so we brought her home and started a completely new direction with our little family.

After seeing the struggling shelter, I decided to start volunteering at an animal organization that was closer to home. It soon became apparent to me that a lot of shelters and animal organizations struggle since they are so busy doing tactical tasks that it was difficult for them to be strategic. They lacked for resources and finances as they don’t have much time nor personnel to seek these out. I knew I was helping each time I volunteered at the shelter but felt we could do more by somehow assisting animal organizations that were hurting for resources. And that's when Alpha's Friends was born. Alpha, my wife and I decided to find ways to provide resources to organizations that help animals in need.
Why support Alpha's Friends?
First off, thank you for considering supporting us! We know even caring people are cautious about supporting any organization in this fast-moving world. Lingering questions like “Where will my support be used?” “How safe are any financial transactions as well as is my personal information protected?” and “What makes Alpha’s Friends different that would motivate me to support them?” There are probably many other concerns that you might have, and we get it!

Prior to creating alpha’s Friends, we had similar types of apprehensions throughout our lives. So many that it often prevented us from actually supporting a lot of organizations. Those concerns were some of the guiding principles we used to create Alpha’s Friends.

Here are the main characteristics of Alpha’s Friends that we hope will help you make your decision to support us:
- We use 100% of donations for the animals. Since we don’t have big salaries to pay or high expenses, we are free to use all financial support to improve animal lives.
- We use Zeffy for our financial transactions, which is a free and safe fundraising platform that you can check out
- Our team verifies the legitimacy and ethics of animal organizations, ensuring donations reach the right place, so you don’t have to. Often, we don’t give finances to an organization but rather provide them with what they need for the animals. IE food, medical supplies, water heaters or more eco-friendly HVACs.
- We are a legitimate 501(C)(3) and we want to maintain our friendly relationship with the IRS.
- But most importantly, we see a little bit of Alpha in all animals. We know where she came from and how she is now. We want all animals that are in a less-than-ideal situation to have a life like Alpha has now… Safe, Happy and Loved.
