No, Alpha’s Friends is not a shelter.

While we occasionally offer temporary safe spaces for animals in urgent need, our core mission is different. Early on, we realized that our true strength lies in supporting the organizations that are on the front lines: those rescuing, healing, and rehoming lost, injured, and homeless animals.

We do this by providing vital resources—from supplies and funding to outreach and awareness—so those organizations can spend more time saving lives and less time worrying about how to keep the lights on.

We define Alpha's Friends as a Grassroots Foundation. Where a regular foundation is generally established by a single benefactor, like an individual person or a business, Alpha's Friends is championed by many animal lovers from a variety of backgrounds. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us make greater and greater impact on the lives of animals in need.

Yes, we support all animals in need, including birds.

While birds are not our primary focus, any animal that comes into the care of Alpha’s Friends will receive our support. In fact, much of our work indirectly benefits birds. For example, every time we help place a stray cat into a safe home or shelter, we reduce the number of skilled hunters on the streets—creating a safer environment for birds and other small wildlife.

The crow in our logo represents our belief that every creature matters, and all are connected in the effort to create a more compassionate world.

First of all—thank you! Just considering a donation to help animals means you’re making the world a better place, and that’s something to celebrate. At Alpha’s Friends, we don’t compete with other nonprofits, and we would never want your support to come at the expense of another great cause.

Instead, here’s what we encourage:

• Give where it feels right. You should feel good about your donation. If it brings you joy and aligns with your values, it’s the right choice.

• Do your homework. Not all organizations use donations the same way. Some give only a small portion to the actual cause, while others operate as for-profits disguised as charitable "Good Will" brands. Transparency matters—ask questions and read the fine print.

• Donate responsibly. Give only what you can comfortably afford. Donations should come from your heart—not from your emergency fund.

Alpha’s Friends does not use donor contributions to cover operational or administrative expenses. Instead, we cover those costs through profits from Alpha’s Store and, when needed, through personal contributions from our staff.

85% of the profit from every purchase at Alpha’s Friends’ store—or through our affiliate partners—goes directly toward helping animals. This includes funding vital services like veterinary care for injured animals and improving shelter conditions to ensure their safety and comfort.

The remaining 15% of the profit helps cover basic operational costs, such as website hosting and financial transaction fees. We work hard to keep overhead low so your purchase makes the biggest possible impact.
